Introduction

Greetings to all, welcome to those who are fellow Catholics and pax tecum. My name is James Marcus, but call me Mark. I am a friend of J. Murdock and a fellow young Catholic. I found my way to the Church last year with the prayers and support of many including James. So thus here I am today trying to live the faith everyday and to understand the many traditions and doctrines of the Church. I am ever drawn to its majesty, its mysteries, and the presence of Christ in the life of the Church. Though I am continually appalled at the disintegrating state of the laity and the gross inadequacy of catechists, I am doing what I can to rebuild the Church in this interesting age. I am a catechist at my parish and help instruct catechumens and candidates preparing for catholic life and the sacraments.

I will not go into my conversion “story” if you will right now, that is for another time. I am mainly here to discuss how my faith affects my daily life and interactions with people. I will also probably give a theological discourse every now and again. I am currently attending nursing school in Baltimore, Maryland and a lot of my posts for now will probably be drawn from my experiences there. Keep in mind that most of my classmates are leftist, agnostics. One of my closest friends there is an “independent” Christian and a former member of a protestant church. I will close this opening post with one of my favorite excerpts from St. Paul’s letters, all the more appropriate given it’s the year of St. Paul.

See therefore, brethren, how you walk circumspectly; not as unwise, but as wise: redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
-Ephesians 5:15-16
